The Talei

A complete luxury resort brand and spatial design for The Talei, a GHM hotel in Fiji, covering identity, architecture, and interior design from first concept to suite-level detail.

Published in several international design books and magazines.

The Talei was developed as a GHM luxury resort property in Fiji, commissioned through Lausanne Project Management in New Zealand.

As Design Director, Rehan Saiyed led the complete design vision in close collaboration with the Lausanne Project Management team, spanning resort brand identity, concept architecture, interior design, and suite-level spatial planning. The two-bedroom Club Suite alone encompassed sunken dining, lounge, butler access, outdoor shower, daybed terraces, and private pool across two levels totalling over 400 square metres of designed space.

The brand identity was built to carry the premium positioning of GHM, one of the world's most respected luxury hotel groups, within a distinctly Fijian context. Every touchpoint from the resort mark and typography through to the spatial detailing of individual suites was designed to hold together as a single, considered experience.

The project was delivered from Auckland across a complex multi-disciplinary scope that spanned brand, architecture, and interior design simultaneously.

Design Intent

To create a resort identity and spatial experience that felt genuinely of its place. Not tropical as a style choice but Fijian as a design conviction, from the mark to the suite plan.

Luxury is not what a place has. It is what a place makes you feel.

Independent by brief. Connected by philosophy.
